Join ICDE at the virtual Lillehammer Lifelong Learning Conference on 16 February! 

The conference builds on the successful 2019 ICDE Lillehammer Lifelong Learning Summit and offers a combination of plenary and parallel sessions with networking opportunities and active engagement from participants. The opening address will be held by Norway’s Prime Minister Erna Solberg and ICDE President Dr. Neil Fassina is among the keynote speakers. ICDE is chairing a parallel session on “Open Education as enabler for innovative lifelong learning” where we explore how open education and OER can be strategic tools for innovation and scale in quality education and learning. ICDE Leadership Summit 2021: Registration is now open

ICDE is pleased to welcome delegates to our first fully virtual international conference, hosted by the Open Polytechnic of New Zealand: the ICDE Leadership Summit 2021: Leadership for Responsiveness. By running the program across multiple time-zones we invite participants from all corners of the world in shaping the aspects of flexibility as a global response to resilient education. The Summit will build on the discussions from the ICDE Presidents’ Forum 2020, and is open for all. This event will take place virtually on 8-9 April 2021.

Open Call to ICDE members: Subit your candidacy for the OER Advocacy Commitee (OERAC)

OER experts among ICDEs members are now invited to submit their application and expression of interest to take part in ICDEs committee for the global advocacy of OER (ICDE OERAC). The deadline for applications is 10 February.

Institutional ICDE members from the Oceania region are now invited to propose candidates for the position as Focal Point on Quality in the ICDE Quality Network. The deadline for applications is 10 February.

Open Praxis vol. 13 issue 2: Call for Papers

Open Praxis is ICDE’s peer-reviewed open access scholarly journal focusing on research and innovation in open, distance and flexible education. The next issue now welcomes contributions which demonstrate creative and innovative research, and which highlight challenges, lessons and achievements in the practice of distance and e-learning from all over the world. Deadline for submission: 31 January 2021.

New survey report from the ICDE OER Advocacy Committee published

The report is based on the findings of the ICDE OER Advocacy Committee (OERAC) survey which gathered feedback from ICDE stakeholders, members and partners about the status of the UNESCO OER Recommendation’s implementation within the first seven months of adoption, and during the educational crisis caused by COVID-19. It includes an executive summary in English, Chinese, French, Hindi, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish and Turkish.

SEAMEO: Partners Lecture Series

The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Secretariat (SEAMEO Secretariat) in collaboration with partners will conduct a SEAMEO-Partners Lecture Series with the theme ‘Agility in Cross-Sector Trends and Transformation in Post COVID-19 Pandemic.’ As affiliated member and partner of SEAMEO, ICDE in collaboration with the OER Universitas, contributes to the lectures series with an introduction to the “Learning in the Digital Age” series of online micro courses, which are based entirely on OER and are freely available to all. The SEAMEO-Partners Lecture Series will be organised online via their Youtube Live Channel with no need for pre-registration.

EDEN: Call open for EDEN 2021 Virtual Annual Conference

European Distance and E-Learning Network (EDEN) announced that in the 30th Anniversary year of the Association, the EDEN 2021 Virtual Annual Conference will be hosted by ICDE member National Distance Education University (UNED) in Madrid, Spain, on 22-25 June 2021 and will be held online.

The theme of the conference is “Gripped or freed by the pandemic? Lessons for the future of education” and is now calling for submissions.

AAOU: AAOU 2020 becomes AAOU 2021

We previously announced that the 34th Annual Conference of the Asian Association of Open Universities (AAOU 2020) has been postponed from 2020 to 2021. It is now renamed to AAOU 2021 and will take place on 1-3 June 2021 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The conference will be virtual, and the theme of the is “Opening minds for a sustainable future: Re-orienting ODL to surmount challenges”. ICDE will participate in the program with a workshop on the role of internationalisation in enhancing quality in online open and distance education and a panel discussion on the implementation of the UNESCO OER Recommendation.

FLANZ: Flanz 2021 Conference extends call for papers deadline

The Flexible Learning Association of New Zealand (FLANZ) 2021 Conference – Focus on Flexible Learning, in association with Massey University, has extended the deadline for Practice Papers and Posters to 15 February 2021. The conference theme is “flexible learning aims to illuminate learning and teaching research and inquiry that steps beyond the expectations of a 21st century learner.”
