The Royal Kathina

On 30 October 2021, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Manit Jumpa, STOU Acting President chaired the Offering Ceremony of the Royal Kathina Robes, graciously bestowed by His Majesty the King Maha Vajiralongkorn of Thailand, at Wat Nong Waeng (Royal Temple) in Khon Kaen.

At the Ceremony, Prof. Dr. Manit received a warm welcome from Mr. Jaruek Laoprasert, Vice Governor of Khon Kaen, and heads of government departments in Khon Kaen. The Ceremony was also joined by the faculty and personnel from both STOU main campus and the Ubon Ratchathani Regional Academic Resources and Community Engagement Center, as well as the students and the alumni of the university, and the general public. COVID-19 precautions were taken to maximize the safety of everyone. The university is honoured to organize the Royal Kathina Robes Offering Ceremony every year. This year, in addition to various necessities, a total of the 1,108,687.25-baht donation was given to the Royal Temple at the Kathina Ceremony. It is a great opportunity for the university to contribute to the preservation of Buddhism, and carry on the beautiful and valuable cultural traditions. It is also an opportunity for many people to make great merit together, as well as encourage a better relationship between the university and the community, and among the alumni and students of the university.
