STOU established cooperative projects and participated in various initiatives with international organizations and multi-universities group.

STOU participated in projects under the initiatives of UNESCO i.e. UNESCO-UNITWIN, UNESCO Chair.

The International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE) is the leading, global membership organisation that works towards bringing accessible, quality education to all through online, open and distance learning. 

 

The Asian Association of Open Universities (AAOU) is a non-profit organization of higher learning institutions that are primarily concerned with open and distance education. It strives to widen the educational opportunities available to all people in Asia and to improve the quality of the institutions in terms of their educational management, teaching and research. It promotes education by distance teaching systems, as well as professional and ethical standards; develops potentialities of open and distance education; cooperates with official bodies and others directly or indirectly interested in education at a distance; and facilitates cooperation with other similar regional and international bodies.

OU5 is a group of five open universities (OU) in the ASEAN countries who have developed a network and collaborated on institutional development and ASEAN studies research.

The five members of OU5 are Universitas Terbuka (UT), Open University Malaysia (OUM), University of Philippines Open University (UPOU), Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU), and Hanoi Open University (HOU). 

The ongoing projects among OU5 members include research and journal.

 

SEAMEO Regional Open Learning Centre (SEAMOLEC) is one of the 26 Centres under the auspices of Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) focusing in the field of Open and Distance Learning (ODL). Owing to various programs that become its core tasks, like; trainings, consultancies, research and development, and information dissemination, SEAMOLEC is assisting the SEAMEO Member Countries to find alternative solution to enhance the quality of its people through Open and Distance Learning (ODL).

The goal of SEAMOLEC is to undertake relevant programs that are responsive to current national and regional needs through the utilization of open and distance learning system. In order to reach its vision and mission, and also to continually provide good services to the region, SEAMOLEC is very keen on establishing a stronger networking system through partnerships and synergizing with other related parties. Only with good network and partnership the Centre treasures to grow bigger in the future.
