On 18 October 2021, Associate Professor Dr. Manit Jumpa, Distinguished Member of the University Council, Acting President of Sukthothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU) and Mr. Suphan Mongkolsuthi, Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), signed the MOU to collaborate on curriculum development regarding the industrial entrepreneurs development in the digital era, and to enhance the competency of entrepreneurs and personnel in the industrial sector, at FTI headquarter at Creative Technology Building.
Mr. Suphan Mongkolsuthi said: “the Federation of Thai Industries has a mission to promote and develop industrial operations, promote and support education, research, training and dissemination of knowledge and technology related to the industry. FTI needs to be ready by the entrepreneurs’ side to solve problems and overcome obstacles within the industry as a ‘friend.’ The FTI is trying to find ways and alliances to help boost knowledge and skills necessary for members to create competitiveness in the global market, and be able to bring the Thai industry forward to the international level with pride. Therefore, we see the opportunity to cooperate with Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University, a leading open university and an innovator in distance learning to promote lifelong learning chances, in developing courses for industrial entrepreneurs. The main objective of the MOU is to equip the FTI members with knowledge, to build the strength and competitiveness for small and new entrepreneurs, as well as to set up a standard for professional qualifications for industrial entrepreneurs.”
Associate Professor Dr. Manit Jumpa said: “Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University is a leader and innovator in the use of technology and innovation in distance education to create lifelong self-learning opportunities. In addition to coursework at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels, there are also non-degree programs and the modular system, that focus on the development of competency at work and quality of life in various fields. The programs are designed especially for re-skilling and up-skilling to meet the learning needs of individuals and agencies according to the STOU motto: Education for All.
For this specially-made program for industrial entrepreneurs, we aim to provide FTI members with the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to gain a competitive advantage in a bigger market. The courses are consistent with professional standards and professional qualifications according to the industry groups. Importantly, FTI members who finish the program will also be able to collect credits for further study at STOU. This is a new dimension in human resources development in the industry sector for the Next Normal era to increase capabilities and increase chances of success.”
